NONE OF THIS IS EASY

The decision to move into activism often follows a deeply personal and nuanced calculus unique to every artist. While artists may come to take action publicly for uniquely personal reasons, the culture they’re active in, risks, pressures, and questions they face are more universal.

Why Nashville?

Our decision to host the first Action Summit in Nashville was an intentional one.

Unlike in any other US city, the music community of Nashville has been galvanized by a cascading series of man-made and natural tragedies within city and state limits: a tornado leveling homes, businesses and houses of worship; gun violence, including school shootings; legislative attacks on our at-risk and marginalized neighbors; the outright banning of books and intentional underfunding and privatization of public schools.

Nashville artists have responded at every turn, joining & leading efforts to mobilize and advance change.

What has this community learned? What support do they need?

We will be in Nashville to recognize the vanguard nature of this music community’s activism; to celebrate it, learn from it, and identify strategies and tools to support this community, and music communities like it all over the US.
